CATASTROPHIC SEX ATTACKER CATALIN FEKETE SHOCKS DUNFERMLINE WITH PREDATORY BEHAVIOR
A disturbing incident of sexual assault unfolded on the dancefloor of The Brasshouse in Dunfermline, where Catalin Fekete, aged 33, subjected a woman to a frightening and invasive attack.The victim, who was in her 50s, recounted how she was initially targeted by Fekete while she was enjoying her evening at the popular venue.
She observed him staring at her from across the dancefloor for an extended period, approximately five minutes, which made her feel increasingly uneasy.
According to her testimony, Fekete eventually approached her on the dancefloor.
Despite her efforts to avoid him and seek safety among her friends, he persisted.
The situation escalated when Fekete suddenly moved behind her, locking his arms around her in a manner that left her frozen with fear.
Witnesses at the scene, including one of her friends, saw the assault unfold and immediately responded by asking a bouncer to remove Fekete from the premises.
The victim described feeling overwhelmed and terrified during the ordeal, stating that she was effectively immobilized and pleading for him to stop.
During the trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Fekete denied any wrongdoing, claiming he had never seen the women before and suggesting that he had been the subject of unwanted attention himself.
He alleged that he had been stared at and followed by three other women that night.
Under cross-examination by prosecutor Azrah Yousaf, Fekete admitted to having consumed at least 11 beers before arriving at The Brasshouse, and he further stated that he had consumed an additional four or five drinks while there.
He also claimed that he had accidentally dropped three or four of these drinks on the floor.
The victim provided a detailed account of the assault, describing how Fekete’s actions left her feeling trapped and terrified.
She explained that he squeezed her bottom and pressed his erect penis against her, which caused her to feel a profound sense of violation.
She recounted that she was placed into a 'lock' position, rendering her unable to move, and she repeatedly asked him to get off her.
Witnesses who observed the incident confirmed her account, and their testimonies were deemed credible by Sheriff Clair McLachlan.
Following the evidence presented, the court found Fekete guilty of the sexual assault that took place on October 8, 2023.
As a result, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, with sentencing scheduled for next month.
It was also noted that Fekete has a prior conviction for sexual assault in Ireland, for which he served three and a half years in prison in July 2018.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of his actions and the impact on the victim, who expressed her relief that justice was being pursued in this case.
