FIFE MAN JAILED FOR ATTACK ON TEEN AND POLICE OFFICER AFTER 'BOABY' JOKE
A Lochgelly man named Casey Japp was convicted of assaulting a teenage girl after inviting her to look at his 'boaby', a term he insisted was a joke. The incident occurred while he was walking home from his grandfather’s funeral with his girlfriend. Japp's remark was challenged by the girl, which led him to become aggressive and push her against a wall. When police arrived to arrest him, he resisted by biting one of the officers on her arm, causing a large bruise. He was taken to Dunfermline Police Station and, upon being charged, he made no reply to the accusations of assault and resisting arrest but responded with the word 'jobbie' during police questioning. Japp admitted to assaulting the girl, resisting arrest, and biting the officer, as well as threatening and abusive behavior in a separate incident. The court heard that Japp was intoxicated at the time, following his attendance at his grandfather’s funeral. His solicitor argued that his reaction was over the top due to intoxication, but considering his prior violent record, Sheriff Alison Michie sentenced him to a total of 9 months in jail, including four months for assaulting the police officer, 12 weeks for assaulting the girl and resisting arrest, and an additional nine weeks for threatening behavior.
