CARL RICHMOND SENTENCED IN WORCESTER FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In August 2011, a man named Carl Richmond was sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting to 10 sex offences involving young girls. He is set to serve half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Richmond, 39, who has no fixed address, was visibly emotional in Worcester Crown Court as Judge Robert Juckes QC stated that Richmond remains a danger to young women.
Richmond will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
The judge described his crimes as a “despicable and appalling series of offences.” Additionally, a sexual offences prevention order was issued, prohibiting him from having unsupervised contact with girls under 18 indefinitely.
Previously, Richmond pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including sexual assault, sexual activity with two girls under 13, and sexual grooming of another girl under 16.
He also admitted to sending an indecent photograph of himself, kissing a girl in a sexual manner, and communicating with her with the intent to commit a sex act.
Defense lawyer Nicholas Roberts stated that Richmond was “thoroughly ashamed of what he had done.” Detective Sergeant Mike Patz of South Worcestershire’s Public Protection Unit commented: “We recognize the courage it takes for victims of this type of crime to come forward, and we look to provide the best support to achieve a positive outcome.
We welcome sentences of this length as it sends out a strong message to potential offenders that offences of this nature will not be tolerated and reassures the victims and public at large that the judicial system recognises the impact it has on their lives.”
