LIVERPOOL MAN SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AND THREATENING POLICE
A man identified as Carl Lee, aged 44, of Liverpool Road in St Helens, has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious offences.According to court reports, Lee pleaded guilty to the charges of sharing sexual images online without the consent of the person filmed and to an offence of affray.
The court detailed that last year Lee clandestinely recorded himself engaging in sexual activity without the other person's knowledge or consent, then proceeded to distribute this footage on social media platforms.
Additionally, in July this year, officers responded to reports that Lee had shared a video on social media of himself wielding knives and making threats to kill.
Authorities forcibly entered Lee’s residence and discovered him holding a knife, during which he began stabbing a door and threatened to harm officers or anyone entering the room.
The police intervention included a several-hour stand-off, during which Lee continued to threaten violence from his bedroom window while brandishing two large kitchen knives.
Subsequently, Lee was detained and faced charges related to making threats to kill and affray.
Today, he received a sentence of three years in prison alongside two restraining orders.
Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill emphasized the distress caused by Lee’s online behaviour and his threats to the public and police, noting that “Lee's violent behaviour displayed online and towards both members of the public and police caused significant distress and they feared for their safety.
Our officers put their own lives and personal safety on the line every day in order to keep us all safe but they should never have to tolerate or accept physical violence when carrying out their duties.” He also highlighted that Lee’s sharing of sexual images caused great distress to the victim, and concluded with a call for victims to come forward and seek assistance, stating “We have a team of dedicated staff who will expertly and compassionately deal with your reports and we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.
We take all such reports extremely seriously, and work with partner organisations such as Victim Care Support Service and RASA who are there to support victims of this crime.”
