GLOUCESTER PAEDOPHILE CARL JAMES CONFRONTED AT WORK BY HUNTERS
In April 2023, a disturbing incident unfolded in Gloucester involving a man named Carl James, who was confronted by a vigilant paedophile hunting group at his place of employment.The group’s intervention was prompted by their discovery of James engaging in online conversations with a woman posing as a 14-year-old girl, with the intent of soliciting sexual acts.
James, a resident of London Road in Gloucester, had initiated a series of inappropriate messages during the online chat.
He urged the fictitious girl to masturbate and inquired about what he could do if they ever met in person.
His disturbing questions extended to whether he would like him to touch her breasts, revealing a clear intent to engage in illegal sexual activity with a minor.
On the day of the confrontation, the paedophile hunters tracked James to his workplace located in the Triangle area of Gloucester.
They approached him directly, leading to a tense encounter that was witnessed by colleagues and passersby.
The hunters’ actions prompted immediate police involvement, and James was subsequently arrested at the scene.
Later, at Gloucester Crown Court, Carl James pleaded guilty to charges of attempted incitement of a minor to perform a sexual act.
His sentencing included a two-year community order, which requires him to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a rehabilitation program aimed at addressing his behavior.
Judge Rupert Lowe, presiding over the case, chose to avoid a custodial sentence, citing that this was James’s first offense and that he demonstrated genuine remorse.
The judge explained, “This is your first time in trouble with the law.
You were drawn into a trap laid by a group called ‘Saving Our Children Online,’ which is known as paedophile hunters.” He further elaborated, “The group, with a volunteer woman, created a profile of a 14-year-old girl named Savannah.
You should not have been online seeking out young teenage girls to suggest sexual activity.
You know it is illegal and a serious offense.” Judge Lowe acknowledged James’s remorse, noting that he admitted his guilt immediately and appeared tearful during police questioning.
“You expressed what I believe was genuine remorse,” the judge stated.
James, from the dock, expressed his regret, saying, “I know I’ve done wrong.
I just want to get my head sorted.
I think this program will be good for me.
I deserve what I get.” The incident was brought to light on September 23rd of the previous year, when the paedophile hunters confronted James at his Gloucester workplace.
The police were called to the scene, leading to his arrest and subsequent court proceedings that highlighted the ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation.
