OSWESTRY MAN WHO SOUGHT EXPLICIT PICTURES FROM DECOY 'TEENS' SPARED JAIL
An Oswestry man named Carl Davies, aged 53 and residing at Aspens Court in English Walls, has been involved in criminal behavior related to seeking explicit pictures from underage girls under false pretenses.
Specifically, Davies persistently asked 13-year-old girls, who were actually decoys, for explicit images.
Around September 2021, Davies contacted a woman using the alias 'Sophie Brown' on Facebook, claiming to be 50 years old, but later engaged in conversations where he asked for explicit pictures.
He added her on Snapchat, exchanged headshots, and sent a picture of his erect penis.
He also requested similar images from the girl and asked for pictures of her genitalia.
During the investigation, police found a conversation with another girl, 'Alexis,' also 13, which followed the same pattern.
Davies' actions included sending multiple indecent images and requesting explicit images from the decoys.
He was arrested after predators exposure confronted him with the evidence of messages and shared them with police.
Davies pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 months and one week in prison, suspended for 18 months, by Recorder Rachel Brand at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
The court noted his prior clean record and the fact that the offenses occurred over a short period, but emphasized the persistence and harm caused to the victims.
Additional penalties included a six-month alcohol abstinence program, rehabilitation days, and a sexual harm prevention order restricting his internet and phone use.
