CARL BROWN FROM SWINDON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AT JACK'S RESTAURANT IN OLD TOWN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community of Swindon, 61-year-old Carl Brown was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage boy while he was managing a restaurant in the town.The incident took place at Jack’s, a popular eatery located on Victoria Road in Swindon’s Old Town district, during the year 2022.
Brown, who was responsible for overseeing the restaurant at the time, committed the assault against the young victim within the premises.
The details of the case emerged during a trial held at Swindon Magistrates’ Court in September 2023, where the defendant was convicted of the charges.
Following the verdict, Brown was scheduled for sentencing on January 4 of the current year.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor Asha Seenauth provided a detailed account of the assault, stating that Brown had physically grabbed the boy’s penis and inserted his finger into his bottom over his clothing.
These actions constituted a serious breach of trust and a grave violation of the victim’s personal boundaries.
In sentencing, magistrates imposed a 12-month community order on Brown.
This order includes 30 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing behavioral issues, as well as 150 hours of unpaid work to serve the community.
Additionally, Brown was ordered to pay £300 in compensation to the victim, along with £620 in court costs and a surcharge of £95.
As part of his legal obligations, Brown, who resides on Highworth Road, was also mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of five years.
The case has garnered significant attention within the Swindon area, highlighting the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and ensuring justice is served in cases of sexual misconduct.
