MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES AFTER GROOMING AND BREACHING COURT ORDERS
On December 8, 2021, Cameron Smith appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court and received a four-year prison sentence after admitting to several serious charges.
These included trying to communicate sexually with a minor, encouraging a child to engage in sexual activities, and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Smith had prior convictions from 2017 for communicating over the internet with teenage girls, which resulted in the original order.
He was apprehended on April 24, 2021, for breaching this order by engaging in online conversations with a group he believed were children, during which he discussed explicit topics and sent a photograph of his genitals.
Authorities, including the Metropolitan Police and North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, also discovered that Smith had attempted to contact officers operating undercover as children.
Detective Inspector Suzanne Keenaghan described Smith’s actions, stating that he had shown no remorse, violated his judicial restrictions, exhibited a clear sexual interest in children, and sought personal gratification at the expense of victims’ well-being.
