SHEEPRIDGE RAPIST CALVIN CROSSE SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS

Calvin Peter Crosse, a resident of Sheepridge, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sex offences.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison with an extended five-year license period for raping a 17-year-old girl.

The court was informed that Crosse, aged 28, had a previous conviction for rape in 2008 and was on license at the time of the recent offence.

Crosse was convicted by a jury of 11-1 majority for raping the teenager and of a sexual assault on her, which he initially denied.

The judge described him as a dangerous individual and noted the pre-sentence report identified him as acting in a manipulative and predatory manner.

During the hearing, the court heard how he befriended the girl and visited her house, intending to commit a sexual offence, which included forcing her upstairs and sexually assaulting her in her own bedroom.

The attack was described as sustained, with the victim suffering long-term psychological harm, including flashbacks and anxiety.

Crosse's criminal history includes a sentence of 54 months for raping another woman in 2008 and other offences such as threatening a private hire driver and possessing a knife.

His latest sentence aims to protect the public from his high risk of harm.

The police and safeguarding authorities commented on the case, emphasizing their commitment to supporting victims and preventing future offences.
