CONVICTED (2022) | illegal dog breeders/dealers Callum Pine aka Callum Davies, 23 August 1997, and Megan Arundel, aka Megan Hughes, born 5 January 2000, of Kingsley Place, Senghenydd, Caerphilly CF83 4HD – sold puppies on social media. A court heard the pair had been breeding the dogs without the authority of a license issued by Caerphilly County Borough Council. They had been breeding and selling puppies periodically over the years but, during the coronavirus pandemic, the quantity was said to have “dramatically” increased. One of many litters advertised by the money-grubbing pair Evidence shows that between March 30, 2020 and March 30, 2021, Pine and Arundel owned eight breeding bitches, breeding seven litters from six of the bitches. The couple were said to have advertised the puppies online via selling platforms and social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. The scale of the breeding activity was described as being “extremely high” for such a short period of time, but the full extent of the couple’s earnings remains unknown. It was said the total asking price of the puppies advertised between January 2020 and April 2021 is estimated to be in the range of £50K. Sentencing: Pine was fined £615, and ordered to pay a surcharge of £61 and £1,000 toward prosecution costs, while Arundel was fined £200, and ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and £1,000 toward prosecution costs.
