CHELMSFORD PAEDOPHILE CALLUM LEEDER FOUND WITH DISTURBING MANUAL AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a chilling revelation, authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of materials at the residence of Callum Leeder, a known sex offender from Chelmsford, Essex. The investigation, which intensified in May 2020, led police to discover a manual containing explicit guidance on how to sexually abuse very young children, alongside a series of indecent images.
This find has raised serious concerns about the potential distribution of such harmful material among predators.
Police officers from Essex Police attended an address on Rubens Gate in Chelmsford in May 2020, following reports and intelligence linking the property to illegal online activity.
The investigation had been ongoing since May 2019, when authorities first identified an IP address associated with the residence.
Over the course of the following year, the Essex Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) conducted extensive inquiries into allegations of possession and distribution of child abuse images at that location, which was confirmed to be Leeder’s home.
At the time of the police raid, Callum Leeder, aged 28, was residing with his father.
When officers arrived, they found both men inside the property.
During the search, law enforcement officials seized a mobile phone belonging to Leeder.
Prosecutor Marc Brown confirmed that the device contained multiple indecent images of children, some of which appeared to originate from a manual stored within a 'locked folder' on the phone.
The discovery of this manual, which provided explicit instructions on how to sexually abuse children, marked a particularly disturbing aspect of the case.
Leeder was arrested on May 15, 2020, and subsequently admitted to possessing the manual on June 12.
The manual, described as a 'paedophile manual,' was among the items found during the police search.
The investigation revealed that Leeder had a prior criminal record for similar offenses; he had previously been convicted in 2013 and 2015 for making indecent images of children.
Additionally, he had breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) on two occasions, in 2017 and 2019, which was meant to restrict his access to such material.
His latest arrest and the discovery of the manual prompted a court hearing at Basildon Crown Court.
The hearing was conducted via video link on Thursday, July 2.
During the proceedings, Judge Samantha Leigh sentenced Leeder to 22 months in prison.
The sentence was structured so that he would serve half of it in custody before being released on license.
Furthermore, Leeder was subjected to an indefinite SHPO, which prohibits him from engaging in activities related to children or child abuse material, and was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
This case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Leeder, who continue to possess and potentially distribute harmful material despite previous convictions and legal restrictions.
The authorities’ efforts to dismantle such networks and prevent further abuse remain a critical part of their mission to protect vulnerable children from exploitation and harm.
