NEWTOWN MAN CAIN ABRAHAM FACES JAIL FOR GIRLFRIEND ASSAULT
A 21-year-old man named Cain Abraham has been informed that he will face imprisonment after a pattern of violent abuse towards his former girlfriend.The incident in Newtown on March 3 involved Abraham strangling, biting, and hitting his partner with a tray over an extended period.
Additionally, he assaulted her mother.
Following police reports, Abraham attempted to intimidate his girlfriend by contacting her online and sending messages over a span of 12 days to disrupt the investigation.
During this same period, he chased a man through Newtown's High Street wielding an axe.
He received a 26-week prison sentence in April, which was suspended for a year.
At Mold Crown Court on June 11, the defendant pleaded guilty to charges of intentional strangulation, witness intimidation, and two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, appearing via video link from HMP Berwyn.
Judge Simon Mills ordered a pre-sentence probation report before sentencing Abraham at Caernarfon Crown Court on July 9.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of Abraham’s actions, describing the abuse—including strangulation, biting, and hitting with a tray—as deeply concerning, and expressed a desire to prevent such incidents from occurring again to another woman.
Addressing Abraham directly, Judge Mills stated that the violence demonstrated was out of control and stressed the importance of a pre-sentence assessment to help reduce future risk.
He warned Abraham not to provide false information during his probation interview, noting that the evidence, including images of the injuries, confirmed guilt.
The judge urged Abraham to show remorse, cooperate with the available help, and avoid wasting the opportunity presented by the pre-sentence report, which could influence his future conduct and well-being.
