BRYAN WOOD OF KIRKCALDY SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE IN FIFE
A man from Kirkcaldy, Bryan Wood, has been legally mandated to participate in a domestic abuse intervention program following his conviction on multiple assault charges involving two different partners.Wood, aged 31 and residing on Balsusney Road in Kirkcaldy, faced a jury trial at the town's sheriff court where he was accused of twelve counts of assault spanning over a three-year period.
Despite his denial of the charges, the jury found him guilty after careful deliberation.
During the sentencing hearing, Sheriff James Williamson acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses but also considered mitigating factors.
He pointed out that Wood had a stable employment history, which influenced the decision to avoid a custodial sentence.
The sheriff warned that had the assaults occurred more recently, a significant jail term might have been inevitable.
Instead, Bryan Wood was sentenced to a community payback order that includes two years of supervised probation, 300 hours of unpaid community service, and a requirement to attend a domestic abuse group work program.

One particularly disturbing incident involved Wood forcibly pulling at a woman's trousers in an attempt to demand sexual intercourse.
Other allegations include slapping her across the face, grabbing her by the throat, and pinning her against a wall.
Witnesses or victims also reported that he pushed her, struck her on the head, and threw household objects at her during episodes of violence.
In addition to the charges related to the first partner, Wood faced seven counts of assault against another woman.
These assaults took place at various locations, including houses in Pitscottie and Cupar, the Mercat shopping center in Kirkcaldy, and along the main road connecting Pitscottie and Ceres.
The assault incidents against the second woman involved a range of aggressive acts, such as slapping her on the face—causing her to hit her head on a windowsill—throwing a pram cover at her while she was holding a young child, striking her on the back, seizing her neck, kicking her, pushing her into a bush, and pinning her to a sofa.
