CONVICTED PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED AFTER SENDING EXPLICIT MESSAGES AND ATTEMPTING TO MEET YOUNG GIRL
A convicted sex offender, Brian Williams, aged 50, was confronted at his home in Merthyr Tydfil by members of a paedophile hunter group after he engaged in online conversations with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
During the interaction, he sent explicit messages including one saying: "Nice young p***y," and asked the decoy to meet him.
Williams also exchanged photographs, with the decoy's images altered to appear younger, and inquired if she was wearing a thong.
On another occasion, he messaged her saying: "Make daddy happy" and subsequently asked her to meet in Cardiff, suggesting she should perform explicit acts.
He initially contacted the decoy by introducing himself and asking if she was 18, but she replied she was 13 and he responded inappropriately.
Following arrest, Williams admitted he had spoken to multiple young girls online, believing they were between 12 and 13 years old and confessed to getting a thrill from these conversations, claiming he would masturbate during such chats.
He acknowledged that his actions were wrong but continued due to the perceived thrill and expressed concern about a possible mental health issue.
Williams, of Garth Street, previously received a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) in 2021 after a previous conviction for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and for possessing indecent images.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and breaching the SHPO, and was sentenced to 20 months in prison by Judge Vanessa Francis.
The court emphasized that the SHPO will remain in place to prevent further activity.
