Newcastle Domestic Homicide
A man named Brian Whitfield, aged 44, formerly of Gateshead and now of no fixed address, is facing charges in connection with the murder of hairdresser Sharon Bell. Whitfield was charged after she was killed at her place of work, a Newcastle hairdressing salon, on May 23. Ms. Bell, a devoted mother of three, was attacked inside the salon and suffered multiple stab wounds. She managed to stagger outside and collapse in the doorway before passing away in hospital despite receiving first aid from passers-by and paramedics. Whitfield was detained following the incident and was briefly hospitalized for a medical condition before being taken to court. His arrest led to an extended police investigation, including the review of CCTV footage. Whitfield appeared before Newcastle magistrates and faces murder charges related to the attack on Ms. Bell, who was described as a caring single parent with three children named Dale, Natasha, and Fay.
