MAN ACCUSED OF HITTING PARTNER’S DOG WITH A KETTLE IN PORTGLENONE
Brian Taggart, a man aged 58, has appeared in court charged with causing criminal damage to his partner's dog, Baby, by hitting the animal on the head with a kettle.
According to court reports, he was alleged to have committed this offence at his home in Moyagoney, Portglenone, on a Sunday.
In addition to animal cruelty, Mr.
Taggart faces other serious charges, including threatening to kill his partner, assaulting her, possessing a kitchen knife, and causing criminal damage to a Land Rover.
The case was presented to District Judge Eamon King, who noted that these allegations stemmed from a dispute involving two dogs.
The police officer involved testified that both Mr.
Taggart and his partner had been drinking alcohol during the incident.
The defendant was subsequently released on bail of £500 under the condition that he moves out of his home into an approved address.
Mr.
Taggart is scheduled to appear again in court in Magherafelt the following day.
