BRIAN RILEY FROM PETERBOROUGH SENT DEPRAVED IMAGES AND TRIED TO LURE SCHOOLGIRL FOR SEX
A man from Peterborough has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after engaging in a disturbing campaign of sending numerous indecent texts with the intent to lure a young schoolgirl into a sexual encounter.Brian Riley, aged 53, adopted a false identity, claiming to be a young man named ‘Steven,’ and engaged in a series of explicit and inappropriate messages with the girl over a period of more than a month.
His actions came to light when the girl’s mother discovered the inappropriate messages on her daughter’s phone.
Concerned about the nature of the communications, she reported the matter to the authorities.
Law enforcement officials quickly traced the messages back to Riley, leading to a search of his devices.
During the investigation, police uncovered a disturbing collection of images depicting children, some as young as two years old, stored on Riley’s electronic devices.
Riley subsequently pleaded guilty in court to charges of attempting to incite a child into sexual activity and possessing indecent images of children.
The images found on his devices were described as some of the most depraved and disturbing material known to law enforcement.
The court expressed grave concern over the severity and depravity of Riley’s offending, emphasizing the serious threat posed by individuals involved in such criminal behavior.
His sentencing reflects the gravity of his crimes, and the case has once again highlighted the ongoing issues surrounding child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable minors from predators like Riley.
