BRIAN LAWSON SENTENCED IN DUNFERMLINE FOR ASSAULT AND THREATENING BEHAVIOUR
Neighbours observed a heated argument on a balcony outside a property, which drew their attention due to its aggressive nature.Brian Lawson, 41, from Millhill Street in Dunfermline, was found guilty in a court trial of two charges linked to assault and threatening behaviour.
The incident occurred on August 21 at Lawson’s home, where he behaved in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing, and making offensive remarks towards his partner.
Court evidence revealed that Lawson had physically assaulted her by pushing her against a wall and repeatedly dragging her by her hair, resulting in injury.
Geoffrey Nicholson, a 30-year-old neighbour, testified that he heard the commotion and saw Lawson pulling the woman by her hair.
Nicholson described the scene as quite aggressive and stated that the male was responsible for the violence.
He added, "Lawson was pulling the woman by her hair, and it was quite aggressive," and noted that he did not know Lawson beforehand.
Nicholson waited outside until police arrived, observing Lawson standing outside while the woman was crying inside.
During the trial, Lawson denied assaulting his partner, claiming she had been the instigator.
However, Sheriff Chris Shead rejected his claims as implausible and dishonest, describing Lawson’s behaviour as "exceptionally cowardly".
The sheriff also called Lawson’s testimony in court "wholly incredible".
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for March 12, where custody will be considered.
