Feb 2003 Rapist, 38, who made teen pregnant jailed A man who raped a teenager and made her pregnant has been jailed for eight years. Brian Hopkins, now known as Brian Davies, had a previous conviction for indecently assaulting a teenage girl of the same age 10 years ago. Hopkins, aged 38, of Glanrhyd, Ystradgynlais, but now living in Morriston, Swansea, admitted the rape. Judge Christopher Morton told Hopkins this week that he had shown no remorse for the attack. He had pleaded guilty only after DNA tests showed the chances he was responsible were higher than 99.9 per cent. Hopkins was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He was also banned from ever taking a job working with children. Hugh Rees, prosecuting at Swansea Crown Court, said during the attack Hopkins had placed his hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming. Afterwards he threatened to harm her if she complained to an adult. Judge Morton passed an extended sentence of 11 years. The custodial element will still be based on eight years but the extension means that, for an extra three years, Hopkins will be liable to recall to jail should he re-offend.
