BRIAN HOAD SHOCKING RAPE OF 12-YEAR-OLD IN WEST SUSSEX
A 66-year-old man from West Sussex has been sentenced to prison after committing a series of heinous crimes involving a young girl. The offender, Brian Hoad, was found guilty of multiple counts related to the sexual abuse of a minor, including the serious offense of raping a 12-year-old girl.
The abuse began in the 1980s, when Hoad first assaulted the young girl, exploiting her innocence.
Over the next four years, he repeatedly raped her, even in situations where other members of his family were present in the house, demonstrating a disturbing level of depravity and a blatant disregard for the presence of witnesses.
The long-standing nature of this abuse indicates a pattern of predatory behavior that persisted over several years.
It was only many years later that the woman, now an adult, chose to come forward and report the horrifying experiences she endured.
Her detailed account led to an investigation by Sussex Police, which was initiated in June 2021.
The following day, authorities arrested Hoad, marking the beginning of a legal process that would eventually hold him accountable for his actions.
During the subsequent trial, Hoad faced and was convicted of four counts of raping a girl under 16 and two counts of sexual assault on a girl under 16.
The justice system and Sussex Police have publicly acknowledged the bravery of Hoad’s victim, whose willingness to confront her abuser and cooperate with law enforcement was crucial in bringing him to justice.
Detective Constable Emily Turner remarked on the case, stating, “Brian Hoad abused his position of trust and responsibility in the most abhorrent ways, robbing his innocent victim of a normal childhood through his own depraved actions.
His detestable crimes have had a long-lasting impact, but thanks to her bravery in coming forward he will now spend a significant part of the rest of his life in prison.
The courage to confront her accuser, support the investigation to prosecution and help bring him to justice cannot be overstated.
I would like to personally thank her.”
