June 2018 Wallsend pensioner had more than 2,000 photos and videos of child abuse on his computers A pensioner was caught with more than 2,000 vile child abuse images and videos. Pervert Brian Cowdery collected the sick stash over an eight-year period on computers at his Wallsend home. Since 2009, the retired 65-year-old had deliberately scrolled the internet looking for indecent photos and movies of children to download, a court was told. However, his collection was finally discovered by police in March 2017. Officers found a total of 2,168 sick pictures and videos, including 404 of the most serious kind – category A – that involve penetrative sexual activity. Cowdery, of Oxford Avenue, Wallsend, appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court to plead guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. Laura Croft, prosecuting, said Cowdery had downloaded the material between January 2009 and March 2017. She told the court: “These are specimen charges for each category – A, B and C – of types of images. In total, there were 404 category A, 429 category B and 1,335 category C. “That’s a total of over 2,000. “There are aggravating factors in this case. There’s the high volume of images, which include moving images, and there are search terms identified during the course of the investigation, which indicate deliberate searching of the images.” Cowdery was released on unconditional bail to next appear at Newcastle Crown Court on July 4 for sentence.
