‘COLD AND EVIL’ SCOT JAILED AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK LEFT VICTIM’S BLOOD SPATTERED ON HOTEL WALL
Brian Chilcott, a 39-year-old man from Kelso, Roxburghshire, known for his history of violence against women, was sentenced to four years in prison following a severe assault on a woman he met through Facebook.
He reserved a hotel room in Berwick where he inflicted hours of physical abuse, including punching, kicking, and making threats to pour boiling water and salt over her.
During the assault, which lasted overnight, the victim was able to contact a friend, and she was left with numerous bruises and a bloodstained hotel room.
Chilcott, who has a record with 73 prior convictions, had previously been convicted of assaulting three former partners.
He had also served a six-month sentence for carrying a weapon but continued to contact his victim from prison.
Additionally, he later appeared at her residence in South Shields, once again threatening her.
Chilcott admitted to two counts of assault and criminal damage, leading the judge to impose a four-year prison term and a 15-year restraining order.
The victim described meeting him as the biggest mistake of her life and expressed ongoing fear for her safety.
