BRIAN BROUGH SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS IN PRISON FOR RAPE IN SALFORD
A man has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison for a brutal and sadistic rape of a vulnerable woman in her own home.Brian Brough, 35, who has no fixed address, sexually assaulted a 60-year-old woman in Little Hulton in March last year.
The incident occurred after Brough knocked on her door and asked to use her toilet, claiming to be a relative of a neighbor.
Once inside the woman's house, he inquired if she wanted to pay for sex.
When she declined, Brough punched her in the face, dragged her into the bedroom, and raped her.
Detective Constable Leanne Jackson of GMP's Salford district described the assault, stating, "This was a horrific and sustained physical and sexual assault on a vulnerable woman and no one should ever be made to feel unsafe or at risk in their own home." The police investigation led to Brough's arrest two days later.
He was charged with multiple counts of rape and, despite refusing to accept responsibility, was eventually convicted.
On Wednesday, Brough was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court to 22 years in prison.
DC Jackson commented on his conduct, saying, "Throughout interview and the trial Brough would not accept any responsibility for his sadistic and vile actions, forcing his victim to endure the horrendous ordeal in court.
He did not even have the decency to attend his trial and faced it in his absence, refusing to leave his prison cell.
His lack of remorse perfectly sums up who he is as a human being, and we are relieved to have removed him from the streets for 22 years, preventing him from harming any more women." DC Jackson also praised the victim's courage and the swift actions of her neighbors, who helped her get to hospital.
