MAN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED WOMAN WHO TRIED TO HELP HIM
A man who had been incapacitated due to alcohol and drug use sexually assaulted a Good Samaritan who was attempting to assist him.On February 4th this year, 33-year-old Brenden Clarke collapsed on Bourges Boulevard.
Two women, who noticed him while driving by, stopped their vehicle to offer help and contacted emergency services.
As Clarke regained consciousness, one of the women supported him to sit against a nearby wall and stayed with him to monitor his condition.
Nonetheless, Clarke, who had prior convictions for a sexual offence in 2009, began making inappropriate sexual gestures towards her and tried to kiss her.
In response, the woman immediately stepped back to maintain physical distance and instructed him to stop.
Despite her warning, Clarke continued to make sexual remarks, and when unsteady on his feet, attempted to step into the road, causing traffic to halt.
The woman managed to guide him back onto the pavement.
Clarke expressed a desire not to wait for medical assistance, claiming he was heading to the probation office.
Fearing he might re-enter the road, the women accompanied him.
During this walk, Clarke once again approached the same woman, sexually assaulted her, and tried to kiss her.
She managed to pull her away and loudly demanded he stop and keep his distance.
Repeating this behaviour, he was eventually pushed against a wall by the victim until he ceased his actions.
Clarke, who was without a fixed address but from the Peterborough area, faced sentencing at Peterborough Crown Court on June 10th.
He received a one-year prison sentence, was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, and pleaded guilty to sexual assault and failing to adhere to notification obligations under the Sex Offenders Register.
