BRANDON VERNON FROM LEICESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL GROOMING OF UNDERAGE GIRLS IN LEICESTER
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leicester, Brandon Vernon, an 18-year-old resident of Fountains Avenue, Eyres Monsell, was found guilty of engaging in the sexual grooming of two underage girls. The case came to light after concerns were raised by parents and subsequent police investigations revealed a pattern of inappropriate and illegal communications.
Vernon’s misconduct involved sending highly sexualized messages to the victims, despite knowing that they were both below the age of consent.
The gravity of his actions was uncovered after the mother of one of the girls contacted Leicester police late last year, expressing her suspicions that her daughter was being groomed.
This initial report prompted a thorough investigation by local authorities.
Following the complaint, police officers interviewed both young girls, which led to the discovery of the extent of Vernon’s offending.
The first victim, who was underage, disclosed that she and Vernon had exchanged messages that often contained sexual references.
She also revealed that Vernon had sent her an indecent image of another child, raising serious concerns about his behavior and potential further victims.
In February, Vernon appeared before Leicester Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
These included two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of sexual communication with a child, and the distribution of an indecent image of a child.
Regarding the second girl, Vernon admitted to one count of sexual communication with a child and two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Today, Vernon was sentenced to three years’ detention in a young offenders’ institution, a decision that reflects the severity of his crimes.
The court’s ruling was announced after a detailed hearing that considered the impact of his actions on the victims and the community.
Leicestershire Police issued a statement following the sentencing, emphasizing their concern that there may be additional victims who have yet to be identified.
The force revealed that their investigation was initiated in late December last year after a parent contacted authorities, suspecting Vernon was grooming her daughter.
The police quickly responded by interviewing the teenage girl, who confirmed that she and Vernon had been messaging each other, often with sexual undertones.
She also expressed her concern about receiving an indecent image of another child from Vernon.
Further inquiries led to Vernon’s arrest on suspicion of the offences, and he was subsequently released on bail while investigators examined his electronic devices for evidence.
The investigation expanded in January when another parent reported that her daughter had engaged in sexual activity with Vernon in early December 2019.
The second girl was also interviewed, revealing that she had met Vernon through a mutual friend in November 2019, and their messaging had included sexual references.
She initially believed Vernon was the same age as her but later discovered he was 18.
Vernon’s case highlights the ongoing concerns about online grooming and the importance of vigilance among parents and authorities.
Leicester police continue to investigate potential additional victims, urging anyone with information to come forward to ensure that all those responsible are held accountable.
