MAN JAILED FOR BOTTLE ATTACK ON STRANGER IN BRACKNELL
A man has received a prison sentence exceeding two years after being found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm in Bracknell.Twenty-one-year-old Brandon Neal, residing at Berkshire Court in Bracknell, admitted to a charge of Section 20 grievous bodily harm during a hearing at Reading Crown Court.
He was sentenced to a term of two years and one month behind bars.
Around 7.20pm on 26 March of the previous year, Neal was walking through Worlds End Hill Park in Bracknell when he engaged in an altercation with a 24-year-old victim.
During the incident, Neal threw a bottle at the victim’s forehead, resulting in a 4cm wound that extended down to her skull.
The victim’s partner intervened by tackling Neal to the ground in self-defense before Neal fled the scene.
Neal was detained on the same day and formally charged via a postal requisition on 14 September.
PC Jake-Jon Crowdey, who works at Bracknell police station, stated: “This was a brutal assault on an individual who did not know the attacker.
“The injuries inflicted were serious, leaving lasting scars on the victim’s head.
“I am glad he received a prison sentence, as this assault has caused both physical and emotional harm.
“The victim has expressed satisfaction that justice has been served and is now able to move forward with her life.”
