Edinburgh Sexual Abuser Rapist
In April 2025, Bradley Shand was handed a severe sentence of ten years in prison following his conviction for a brutal series of crimes committed in Edinburgh. The sentencing took place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the High Court, where the court found him guilty of a heinous sexual assault and other violent offenses.

Shand, aged 23 at the time, had a troubling criminal history, having been released under three separate court bail orders despite facing five pending court cases. His release did not deter him from committing further acts of violence and intimidation. The most disturbing incident occurred on January 9, 2023, in the Murrayfield area of Edinburgh, where he forcibly entered a woman’s home after kicking his way through a French door.

According to court proceedings, the woman, aged 61, was at her residence when she heard a loud banging noise. Upon investigation, she discovered Shand violently kicking the glass of her door and smashing it open. Without hesitation, he entered her home and proceeded to seize her phone, which he used during the assault. The court heard that Shand subjected the woman to a severe sexual attack, during which he sustained injuries himself. The victim, visibly distressed, managed to escape and sought refuge at a neighbor’s house, where she was found with blood on her face and dressed in a dressing gown.

The neighbor recounted the scene, saying, “She was obviously upset, shaken, questioning herself ‘What did I do?’.” The woman later described her ordeal, stating, “He was throwing me about like a rag doll. I don’t feel safe any more. I sit downstairs and it brings back all the memories. I feel numb.”

Adding to the chaos of that day, Shand committed another violent act in the nearby Corstorphine area. He threw a boulder and a garden stone ornament through a window at a couple’s home, demanding they hand over their car keys. He admitted to attempting to rob them of their vehicle and the keys, further demonstrating his violent tendencies.

Following his conviction, Shand was placed on the sex offenders’ register, and his detention was extended as authorities prepared a comprehensive background report ahead of sentencing. The presiding judge, Lord Summers, addressed him directly, stating, “You were convicted unanimously by the jury of a brutal rape and assault, and for that you may expect to receive a substantial custodial sentence.” The court’s decision underscores the severity of his crimes and the community’s need for justice and safety.
