ACCRINGTON MAN JAILED FOR ABUSIVE VIOLENCE AND THREATS TO FORMER PARTNER
A man named Bradley Risdale, aged 26, was convicted of multiple violent offenses against his former partner. He pleaded guilty to charges including assault by beating, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, strangulation, and criminal damage.
The court heard that Risdale's abusive behavior was part of a toxic and violent relationship that began in 2022.
The victim's distress was highlighted when, on August 20, she contacted her sister and the police after Risdale was smashing up their house.
During a phone call, Risdale aggressively threatened the victim, saying, "who the f**k are you talking to, I own everything in this house." A neighbor reported seeing bruises and swollen eyes on the victim, who was found hiding bloodied and battered after a threatening incident in December 2023, where Risdale was kicking her in the head.
Another incident in May last year involved Risdale threatening to burn down the house and telling the victim, "I could end you right now," before physically assaulting her.
Risdale has prior convictions for driving offenses, burglary, and class A drug supply, but none relating to violence.
The judge described Risdale as a coward and bully who treated his partner appallingly, noting that Risdale had strangled her and threatened her life.
The court sentenced him to two years and ten months in prison.
