BRADLEY DAWES AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

A conviction has been handed down to Bradley Dawes, a 26-year-old man from Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, who was found guilty in March of heinous acts involving sexual assault and physical abuse.

The court proceedings detailed the extent of his brutality, revealing that Dawes had employed extreme violence and degradation towards women for his own sadistic satisfaction.

Dawes was sentenced to a period of 17 years in prison for his crimes.

During the trial at Nottingham Crown Court, Recorder Jason Macadam emphasized that Dawes's actions appeared to be driven significantly by animosity and hostility toward women.

In addition to the rape charges, Dawes admitted to four counts of assault, with specific accounts of him raping and physically assaulting one victim, and during an altercation with a second woman, punching her roughly ten times.

The court was presented with a disturbing history of Dawes's violent conduct.

It was documented that he has a record containing four previous convictions for a total of ten criminal acts, all relating to violence against women.

In December 2018, Dawes assaulted a woman multiple times, resulting in visible injuries including a black eye and bruised ribs.

The court heard that during this incident, he strangled her and twisted her neck "like a chicken," all while continuing to hit her.

The violent attacks did not cease there.

On New Year’s Day, he assaulted her again, and the following morning, he subjected her to what the court described as a rape, allegedly as a form of punishment.

The victim sustained serious injuries, including a broken nose and a broken tooth.

Disturbingly, Dawes then took her out to display her injuries to his brother and a friend, further illustrating his violent and controlling tendencies.

In a harrowing victim impact statement, the woman, who remains unidentified, conveyed the lasting trauma inflicted by Dawes.

She expressed that she continues to suffer from flashbacks and feelings of violation, intimidation, and worthlessness, all of which she attributes directly to his cruel actions.

Her words underscored the profound and enduring impact of his violence on her life.

Further details of Dawes's aggressive behavior emerged with evidence of another attack in October 2019.

During this incident, he grabbed a different woman by the neck and punched her in the face and head five times, causing a bloody nose and black eye.

He also threw a boot at her, delivered about ten punches to her ribs, back, and neck, and subsequently instructed her to apply makeup so he could see his probation officer.

The victim was subjected to ongoing harassment, including Dawes sending semi-naked photos of her to her brother, posting threatening messages online aimed at anyone interested in her, and even threatening to set her house on fire.

These threats and acts of intimidation led her to leave her home due to safety concerns.

Judge Jason Macadam criticized Dawes’s conduct as intentionally intended to cause maximum distress, pointing out that his hostility toward women was a clear motivation behind his actions.

The judge described Dawes as a misogynist who derived pleasure from degrading and tormenting women, whether he was alone or in the company of others.

The court condemned his continuous pattern of violence, coercion, and humiliation, noting that his behaviors exemplified a calculated effort to dominate and humiliate his victims.

Commenting on the case, Detective Constable Donna Elliott from Nottinghamshire Police described Dawes as a violent, arrogant, and controlling bully who instilled terror in two young women.

She expressed satisfaction that Dawes would now be imprisoned for such a lengthy period, highlighting the courage shown by the victims in coming forward and providing evidence despite the fear they experienced.

In addition to his 17-year prison sentence, Dawes was ordered to be subject to a lifelong restraining order and will be registered on the sex offenders register for the remainder of his life.

The court further stipulates that Dawes must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before he becomes eligible for parole, ensuring he remains incarcerated long enough to protect the public from further harm.
