BITUN PATEL TOOTING SEX OFFENDER CONVICTED AFTER ASSAULT ON TEENAGE DAUGHTER
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Tooting community, a 47-year-old man named Bitun Chandra Patel has been found guilty of serious sexual assault charges involving a teenage girl. The incident, which occurred in December of the previous year, has raised urgent concerns about the safety of children and the importance of vigilance among parents and guardians alike.According to reports, the victim, a 14-year-old girl, was subjected to a series of assaults over a period of four months. Her mother, who resides on Pendle Road in Tooting and has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, issued a heartfelt warning to other parents and children. She emphasized that children should feel empowered to speak out and seek help if they find themselves in similar situations, stressing that no one should feel ashamed or afraid to come forward.
The mother recounted that the perpetrator, a married man with two children of his own, exploited his position of trust as a sub-postmaster to gain her daughter’s confidence. Over the course of several months, he manipulated her through false pretenses, ultimately leading to the assault. The mother described her daughter’s ordeal as traumatic, noting that she was in a terrible state for months afterward, crying frequently and suffering emotional distress.
Bitun Patel’s actions came to light when the young girl confided in her chief guide, after initially feeling too frightened to disclose the abuse. Her mother expressed her anger and concern over the sentencing, feeling that the punishment was insufficient given the severity of the crime. Patel was convicted last week at Kingston Crown Court on two counts of assault. As part of his sentence, he has been placed on the sex offenders register for five years and mandated to participate in a sex offenders rehabilitation program aimed at modifying his behavior.
In addition, Patel received a two-year community rehabilitation order (CRO), which requires him to undergo supervision and adhere to certain conditions designed to prevent further offenses. The mother voiced her worries that the CRO might inadvertently put her daughter in contact with the offender again, raising fears about her safety and well-being.
She also expressed her frustration that Patel was not given a harsher sentence, feeling that justice was not fully served. Her daughter, she said, continues to struggle emotionally, and the mother hopes that sharing her story will encourage other young people to speak out if they experience similar abuse. Her message to children is clear: they should never feel ashamed or afraid to tell someone they trust if they are being harmed, because their safety and well-being must always come first.
