BILLY SCARROTT FROM UXBRIDGE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES IN ISLEWORTH
In a case that has shocked the local community of Uxbridge, Billy Scarrott, a 20-year-old resident of the area, was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a minor. The incident took place in the Uxbridge region between July and September of 2014, a period during which Scarrott's actions went unnoticed until a concerned mother uncovered the truth.Following her discovery, the mother promptly contacted law enforcement authorities, prompting a thorough investigation by officers from the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command. The investigation culminated in Scarrott's arrest on September 11, 2014. The legal proceedings continued over the next years, with Scarrott being formally charged on January 14, 2016, along with a 17-year-old individual who was also implicated in the case.
On September 26, 2017, Scarrott appeared before Isleworth Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual activity with a child under 16. His plea marked a significant moment in the case, reflecting acknowledgment of his misconduct. Subsequently, on December 19, 2017, the court sentenced Scarrott to two years in a young offenders' institution. Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure aimed at safeguarding the community and monitoring his activities post-release.
It is noteworthy that the crime was brought to light solely because of the victim's mother’s vigilance and willingness to seek justice. The case underscores the importance of community awareness and prompt reporting in addressing and preventing child exploitation and abuse. The legal proceedings and subsequent sentencing serve as a reminder of the serious consequences faced by those who commit such offenses, especially within the local context of Uxbridge.
