BILLY LYNCH-WHITE SENTENCED IN GLASGOW FOR SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC ABUSE INDEPENDENT SCOTLAND
A woman who witnessed the brutal assault of her pregnant mother by Billy Lynch-White as a child has spoken out about the lasting trauma. She recalls the horrifying day her mother was kicked three times in the stomach, which ultimately led to the loss of her baby sister.
Lynch-White, 47, received an 18-year extended prison sentence in December after being convicted of multiple crimes, including assault and rape of women between 2006 and 2019.
Following a trial at Glasgow High Court, a jury found Lynch-White guilty of nine charges.
He was also accused of engaging in lewd, indecent, and libidinous conduct toward the daughter of one of his victims; however, this particular charge was not proven in court.
The woman, who was only a child during the incidents, described how she was forced to listen to her mother being attacked and even witnessed the assault.
She told Lennox, "I was just a child.
It has only been in later life I have realized how wrong it was." Lynch-White was convicted of violently attacking her pregnant mother at an address in Renton, during which he slapped her on the head, punched her, threw a plate at her, and kicked her multiple times in the stomach.
The woman commented, "The 18-year extended sentence — which will see him serve about 14 years — is justice." She also expressed relief, saying, "My little sister that died, she got justice too." Recalling the tragic day when her mother lost her baby, she explained, "I had witnessed him hitting my mum on many occasions.
On this day, he booted her three times in the stomach.
About an hour later, she started experiencing severe pains, and she was taken to hospital.
The hospital told us she had to give birth, but sadly, the baby didn't survive.
My mum managed to get hand and footprints of her." Lynch-White, whose last known address was in Peterborough, was also convicted of multiple sexual offenses.
These included raping a woman while she was asleep and unable to consent at an address in Renton and elsewhere between 2010 and 2013, during which he also held a pillow over her face while assaulting her on several occasions.
Between 2017 and 2019, he raped another woman at a Wishaw address and once held a knife to her throat before raping her.
On December 3, at Aberdeen High Court, Lynch-White was sentenced to an indefinite period on the sex offenders register.
Reflecting on the impact of these experiences, the woman stated, "Reliving the horrors I saw as a child has taken a toll on me.
During the trial, I was off work for three months and relied on medication just to cope.
When I received the verdict, I felt it was worth all the pain.
It’s good to know I finally spoke up." She added, "I still have mental health issues, but it feels like chapters in my life have closed.
I’ve had my day in court.
I am still angry, hurt, and upset about what he has put us through, but it’s no longer constantly in my mind." The woman praised Police Scotland for their support throughout the case.
Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, the senior officer involved, welcomed the conviction, stating, "We welcome the conviction of Billy Lynch-White.
His behavior was completely unacceptable, and the abuse will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on his victims.
I hope this brings some closure and helps the victims move forward." He concluded, "Police Scotland takes all reports of sexual abuse very seriously.
Our specialist officers are here to support victims and to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable."
