CHELMSFORD MAN JAILED FOR KIDNAP AND RAPE IN HORRENDOUS ATTACK
Billy Bennett, aged 22 and a resident of Great Fox Meadow in Kelvedon Hatch, received a nine-year jail sentence after confessing to charges of kidnapping and sexual assault.Law enforcement described the assault as 'horrendous.' The victim, who was 26 years old at the time, was subjected to threats and forced into a vehicle before being taken to an abandoned hospital site in Chelmsford on 19 May.
During the trial, it was revealed that Bennett used threats to coerce his victim and then subjected her to repeated assaults in an incident characterized as 'horrendous.' Detective Chief Inspector Simon Werrett commented on the case, stating, 'This was a dreadful assault on a young woman who was simply walking home after an evening out.' The court’s decision underscores the gravity of Bennett’s actions by sentencing him to nine years in prison.
