BHAVESH VORALIA AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN PETERBOROUGH
In a disturbing case that has shaken the community of Peterborough, a man named Bhavesh Voralia has been convicted and sentenced for serious sexual misconduct. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 3, 2021, within a block of flats located on The Drive, a residential area in Peterborough.
According to reports, Voralia, aged 50, initiated a frightening physical assault on a female victim.
Witnesses or police investigations revealed that he forcibly grabbed her breasts and struck her, during which he bizarrely expressed his love for her.
The woman, overwhelmed with fear and shock, managed to break free from his hold and quickly return to her flat for safety.
The court proceedings culminated on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Cambridge Crown Court.
There, Voralia was found guilty of sexual assault and additionally convicted on two counts of failing to comply with the statutory requirements of the Sex Offenders Register.
The judge sentenced him to a prison term of one year for these offenses.
Voralia's legal issues were compounded by his prior conviction.
He had been previously placed on the Sex Offenders Register after being convicted of another sexual assault at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on June 13 of the previous year.
Despite this, he notably failed to fulfill his legal obligations to inform authorities of certain details.
Three days after his initial conviction, Voralia boarded a flight from Heathrow Airport to Ahmedabad, India.
His departure was a clear violation of the notification law, as he did not update police with his name, date of birth, and residential address within the mandated three-day period following his conviction.
This omission was significant, as it also meant he did not provide advance notice of his travel plans to the authorities, violating the requirement to notify them at least seven days prior to any international travel.
PC Mohsin Raja, speaking about the case, expressed his condemnation of Voralia’s behavior.
“This was a despicable assault by Voralia and I would like to thank the victim for her cooperation with us in seeking a prosecution,” he stated.
He further emphasized the seriousness of the violation of the Sex Offenders Register notification requirements, saying, “In failing to adhere to his notification requirements, he has shown a blatant disregard for the law.”
