BERNARD HIGH OF ROCHESTER SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A man responsible for subjecting two children to repeated sexual abuse during the 1980s and 1990s has been sentenced to prison.Bernard High, from Rochester, was convicted of 16 separate offences, including indecent assault and gross indecency.
The crimes came to light after being reported to Kent Police in September 2018, leading to his arrest on 17 November the same year.
High, aged 67 and residing on Jenner Road, denied all accusations, but the case proceeded to trial where he was found guilty of all charges.
He received a sentence of 16 years in prison and will be registered as a sex offender for life.
Det Sgt Rachael Cheney described High as “a despicable individual who targeted the vulnerable victims,” adding, “The crimes committed by High have had a long-lasting impact on their lives, and I hope they can now move forward in the knowledge that their abuser is serving a considerable prison sentence.”
