Ramsbottom Sexual Abuser
In a case that has spanned decades and finally culminated in justice, Bernard Decieco, a man now aged 57 and residing in Shuttleworth, Ramsbottom, Lancashire, has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for a series of child sex offences committed more than 40 years ago. The crimes, which took place in Bristol, involved disturbing acts against a young boy and girl, with the earliest offences dating back to the late 1960s when Decieco was only 11 years old.

Decieco was found guilty on nine counts of indecent assault after a thorough trial held at Bristol Crown Court. The sentencing was carried out at the same court earlier today, on September 11th. The presiding judge described Decieco’s actions as driven by his own selfish desires, emphasizing the malicious intent behind the offences.

The victims, who were between the ages of eight and 13 at the time of the assaults, courageously came forward to police in 2012, more than four decades after the crimes occurred. Their testimonies prompted a detailed investigation into offences believed to have been committed in the south Bristol area during the 1960s and 1970s.

Detective Sergeant Katherine Davis, the investigating officer, expressed her thoughts on the case, stating, “It’s almost impossible to comprehend the pain and suffering these two victims have had to endure. It’s equally as horrifying when you consider Bernard Decieco was just a young boy himself when he started his offending. He subjected these two victims to some very serious sexual assaults which were extremely distressing in nature.”

She further highlighted the resilience of the victims, saying, “Both victims have suffered severe emotional trauma over the intervening years and have shown great strength and courage in coming forward to speak to us. The courage and spirit of these victims has ensured our communities will now be protected from a dangerous offender, and I hope they are now able to move on with their lives.”

This case sends a powerful message that no matter how long ago offences were committed, authorities remain committed to seeking justice. It underscores the importance of listening to and believing victims, regardless of the passage of time, and demonstrates the criminal justice system’s dedication to protecting the vulnerable from those who pose a threat to their safety.
