RUGBY PERVERT BENJAMIN WASHBROOKE SENT TO JAIL FOR GROOMING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Rugby, Benjamin Washbrooke, a 39-year-old man from Biart Place, has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a serious grooming and sexual exploitation scheme involving a 13-year-old girl. The incident came to light after a teacher overheard a conversation between two young girls discussing explicit sexual matters, which ultimately led to police involvement and the uncovering of Washbrooke's disturbing actions.
According to court records, the girl, who was only 13 at the time, received a Facebook friend request from Washbrooke sometime around early May.
What initially appeared to be a casual online connection quickly escalated into a series of sexual exchanges.
Washbrooke persuaded the young girl to send him explicit photographs of herself and to perform sexual acts, which she then sent to him.
The predator's persistent requests for more images and his attempts to arrange a physical meeting for sex demonstrated his predatory intent.
Further evidence revealed that Washbrooke also sent the girl a video clip of himself performing a sexual act, adding to the severity of his misconduct.
The girl’s friend, who was also involved in some of the images sent to Washbrooke, was identified during police investigations.
The case was brought to light after the teacher, who overheard the girls discussing sexual topics, questioned them and subsequently contacted the authorities.
Prosecutor Glyn Samuel explained that the police were alerted following the teacher’s intervention.
The investigation uncovered that Washbrooke had been engaging with the girl for several weeks, during which he repeatedly asked her to meet him for sex.
Despite having no prior criminal record, Washbrooke admitted to the police that he had sent the Facebook request to the girl, fully aware of her age.
At Warwick Crown Court, Washbrooke pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to meet a minor following grooming, causing a girl to engage in sexual activity, and causing her to watch a sexual image.
The court heard that his actions were deliberate and sustained over a period of weeks, indicating a clear pattern of predatory behavior.
Recorder Michael Burrows QC, after considering the case, sentenced Washbrooke to 28 months in prison.
Additionally, he ordered Washbrooke to register as a sex offender for ten years, emphasizing the seriousness of his offenses and the need for ongoing monitoring.
The judge highlighted that the sentence was necessary to reflect the gravity of the crimes committed and to protect the community from further harm.
