DOMESTIC ABUSER TERRORISED AND STRANGLED PARTNER IN 'SUSTAINED CAMPAIGN OF VIOLENCE'
A man from Fenland who subjected his partner to ongoing violence and strangled her during heated disputes has been sentenced to prison.Benjamin Davies, aged 32 and residing on Slade Way in Chatteris, received a three-year jail term at Cambridge Crown Court after admitting to charges of actual bodily harm, deliberate strangulation, intentional suffocation, and three counts of criminal damage.
The court was told that Davies had inflicted severe abuse on his partner over a period of up to six weeks, with daily attacks involving punching, kicking, and throwing objects.
During arguments, he strangled her to silence her and once restricted her breathing.
The abuse only stopped when a family member received anonymous messages indicating she needed help.
A neighbor witnessed the woman passing a note with phone numbers asking for assistance, but Davies threatened to kill both of them if she tried to escape.
Police arrested Davies on 20 November last year following reports of shouting and banging.
Detective Sergeant Sam Moorby described Davies’ actions as a prolonged campaign of violence, control, and intimidation, which eventually included threats to kill her and himself.
Davies was sentenced on 16 July and was issued a 10-year restraining order.
An additional charge related to controlling or coercive behavior was kept on file.
