BENJAMIN ASHMAN FROM BOURNEMOUTH CONVICTED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN MAY 2014
In May 2014, Bournemouth resident Benjamin John Ashman, aged 37, was convicted of producing and sharing a significant number of indecent images of children—the largest child pornography case ever investigated by Dorset Police.Ashman was found distributing these images to paedophiles worldwide.
His arrest followed an interception by Dorset Police's Paedophile Online Investigation Team, which caught him during an online conversation with a convicted sex offender.
Authorities also discovered hundreds of explicit and disturbing text messages on Ashman’s mobile device, some of which included sharing images of a four-year-old girl from the UK.
On Friday, May 2nd, Ashman was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court.
The court found him guilty of 27 counts related to making and possessing indecent child photographs, three counts of distributing such images, and taking an indecent photo of a child.
Commenting on the case, Acting Detective Superintendent Chris Naughton, Director of Public Protection, stated: “We are using technology to combat offenders who use the internet as a weapon to attack and abuse children.
We will track you, we will arrest you and we will convict you with the severest sentence at our disposal.”
