BENEDICT EVERETT FROM LAMORNA SENTENCED FOR CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

A convicted sex offender named Benedict Everett from Lamorna has been found in possession of indecent images involving children and animals, including material associated with necrophilia. The 49-year-old is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence at HMP Ashfield for sexually abusing a minor in the Penzance area over twenty years ago. During his sentencing at Truro Crown Court in August, it was disclosed that Everett had exploited his young victim while working as a music teacher in 2000/2001. It was only years later that the victim came forward to report the abuse. Everett was arrested in 2021 after he fully admitted to his crimes. Investigations revealed he possessed over 900 indecent images of children on his devices, some of which were classified as the most severe category A images, alongside 103 extreme pornographic images involving animals—some dead and some alive. In October, Everett pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of extreme pornography, making indecent images of children, and possessing prohibited images of a child. Additionally, he was banned from internet access until further notice and received an extra year added to his prison term. During a court hearing on November 7, Judge Simon Carr remarked that it would have been preferable for the charges to be tried collectively. Everett’s lawyer stated that he had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and accepted responsibility for his actions. The judge underscored the gravity of his offenses involving extreme and child pornography. As a result, Everett was sentenced to an additional year in prison, placed under a lifetime sexual harm prevention order, and prohibited from internet use. He remains on the sex offenders register for life.
