Morley Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing series of events that shocked the communities of Leeds and Morley, a man named Ben Creek has been handed a substantial prison sentence after committing a brutal assault and indecent exposure. The incident, which took place in Leeds, specifically in the Holbeck area, involved a heinous attack on a woman in her twenties, and subsequent criminal behavior in Morley.
According to reports, the assault occurred on the morning of May 5, 2023, when the victim was simply walking back home after taking her child to school. She was on a footpath that runs beneath a viaduct, situated between Domestic Road and Cross Ingram Road, shortly after 9:15 am. It was during this routine walk that she was suddenly attacked by Creek, who was later identified as a resident of Morley.
Creek's assault was particularly violent and frightening. He forcibly dragged the woman to a nearby grassy area, where he placed a noose around her neck and began choking her. He then pinned her to the ground, attempting to overpower her. Despite the severity of the attack, the victim fought back fiercely. Her resistance was enough to disturb Creek, who then fled the scene when a passerby noticed the struggle and intervened. Creek's escape was swift, but not untraceable.
Detectives from the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team launched an extensive investigation into the incident. They meticulously tracked Creek’s movements, which initially led them south along the A643. However, Creek then changed course, heading back north along the same road, before proceeding along Gelderd Road and onto Whitehall Road. His route appeared deliberately complicated, suggesting an attempt to evade capture. Despite CCTV footage capturing only a distant figure, investigators persisted.
Further efforts paid off when a high-quality image of Creek walking along Dixon Lane was obtained from a CCTV camera. The image was shared on West Yorkshire Police’s social media platforms on May 15, 2023. The public response was immediate and overwhelming, leading to the identification of 30-year-old Creek, who resides on Britannia Road in Morley. His identification was confirmed quickly, and he was arrested on the same day.
Following his arrest, Creek was charged not only for the attack on May 5 but also for a separate incident that occurred on May 9. In that incident, he was accused of exposing himself to a schoolgirl on Asquith Avenue, Morley. The charges against him included sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and committing an offence with the intent to commit a relevant sexual offence. The exposure incident on May 9 added further charges of indecent exposure.
During court proceedings, the charges related to the May 5 attack were updated to include a specific offence under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, Section 21, which pertains to attempting to choke, suffocate, or strangle another person with the intent to commit an indictable offence. Creek, now aged 31, admitted to all charges in court.
Today, at Leeds Crown Court, Creek was sentenced to an extended term of 13 years in prison. The sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the impact on his victims, as well as the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to ensure justice is served for such heinous acts committed in the communities of Leeds and Morley.
