BARRY WALKER'S SHAME: PAEDOPHILE FROM BICESTER AND PHILIPPINES ESCAPES PRISON SENTENCE

In a case that has shocked the community, Barry Walker, a man with a disturbing history of child exploitation, was handed a suspended jail sentence after admitting to multiple charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children.

The offences spanned a period from January 2009 to March 2012, during which Walker, who at the time was associated with Bicester, was found to have accumulated nearly 500 indecent images, including 27 at the most severe levels, classified as levels four and five.

Walker, now without a fixed address, also confessed to taking indecent photographs of two children, a boy and a girl, during a trip to the Philippines.

This revelation added an international dimension to his crimes, highlighting the extent of his misconduct across different locations.

During the court proceedings, Claire Fraser, representing Walker, emphasized her client’s profound remorse.

She explained that Walker had chosen not to claim legal aid, feeling so overwhelmed by guilt that he wanted to avoid burdening the public with legal costs.

Fraser also revealed that Walker had decided to leave his family home due to the shame and disgrace his actions had brought upon himself and his loved ones.

She further noted that Walker had been married for 40 years and was the father of four adult children, all of whom continued to support him despite the allegations.

The court heard that Walker’s actions had caused significant distress, and his guilty plea reflected his acknowledgment of the severity of his crimes.

Judge Gordon Risius, presiding over the case, detailed the gravity of Walker’s offences.

He pointed out that the defendant had admitted to creating nearly 500 indecent images, with 27 at the highest levels of severity.

In light of this, the judge sentenced Walker to six months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed further offences within that period.

Additionally, Walker was ordered to participate in a sex offender treatment programme and was placed under a sex offences prevention order.

These measures aim to monitor and rehabilitate him, preventing any future harm.

The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which the justice system treats crimes involving child exploitation, even when a suspended sentence is deemed appropriate.
