BARRY KILTY FROM CHELMSFORD HAS SENTENCE REDUCED BY COURT OF APPEAL
In December 2010, Barry Kilty, a 34-year-old from Avon Road, Chelmsford, saw his prison sentence shortened after top judges reduced it by a third.
Kilty was originally sentenced to six years in jail at Chelmsford Crown Court in December 2008, following his guilty plea to charges including sexual grooming of a 14-year-old boy over the internet, engaging in sexual activity with a minor, and possession of eight counts of indecent images of children.
It was also revealed that Kilty's computer contained a catalog of up to 500 child abuse images, which he had shared with other paedophiles online.
However, on Friday, two judges at the Court of Appeal agreed to cut his sentence to four years.
This reduction means he could become eligible for automatic release later this year, potentially leaving prison before Christmas.
