BAIRON CROSS FROM LANCASHIRE FACES COURT AFTER TRESPASSING AT EX'S PRESTON HOME

In a troubling incident that unfolded in Preston, Lancashire, Bairon Cross, a 34-year-old man with a history of criminal behavior, was involved in a series of unsettling events that culminated in his arrest and court appearance.

The situation began when Cross, who had recently been evicted from his residence, made an uninvited visit to the home of his former partner's parents while she was busy putting her children to bed.

According to court reports, Cross repeatedly called the woman, attempting to contact her through multiple phone calls.

Despite her efforts to focus on her children’s bedtime routine, she became aware of his presence in the garden of her parents’ house.

The woman then answered the door, where she was confronted by Cross, who had approached the property.

She promptly told him to leave, but the situation escalated when Cross insulted her, calling her a 'tramp.' Adding to the distress, Cross snatched a laptop belonging to her parents, refusing to return it despite her requests.

This act of theft was part of a broader pattern of troubling behavior that led to his arrest.

Officers located Cross on Kent Street in Preston on September 17.

When law enforcement approached him, he exhibited resistance and aggression, making the arrest more challenging.

Nevertheless, the officers managed to overpower him and transported him to the police station for processing.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Cross has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Despite this, he was assessed in February 2024 as being mentally fit to enter guilty pleas to charges of theft and failure to comply with notification requirements.

His criminal record includes previous convictions for theft and sexual activity with a child, dating back to 2010.

In sentencing, Judge Ian Unsworth acknowledged Cross’s medical condition but emphasized the importance of appropriate treatment and supervision.

He ordered that Cross be detained at Guild Lodge in a hospital setting until he is deemed well enough to re-enter the community.

The judge noted that Cross has shown significant progress during his stay at Guild Lodge, being receptive to treatment and cooperating with staff.

The judge concluded by encouraging him to continue his positive trajectory, stating, "The author of your presentence report makes the conclusion that at Guild Lodge you have been making very good progress.

You have been receptive to your treatment and co-operating with staff.

Everything you are doing is of positive note.

I would urge you to continue to make the progress you are."
