BAHMAN RAZVANI SENTENCED IN LEICESTER FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A 31-year-old man, Bahman Razvani, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman while she was asleep. The incident occurred in Leicester city centre in the early hours of 25 July, when Razvani met the victim in Leicester.
Despite her being heavily intoxicated, he took her to an address on Glebe Street, where he engaged in sexual activity with her while she was unconscious.
The following morning, the woman awoke to find Razvani touching her inappropriately.
She quickly got dressed and left the property to report the incident to the police, telling officers she believed she had been raped.
Following CCTV investigations, authorities confirmed that Razvani, previously residing on Glebe Street, had taken her to his address.
Razvani was arrested and initially claimed that the woman had consented to the sexual encounter.
However, at Leicester Crown Court on 9 December, he pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one of sexual assault.
On Monday, 24 January, Razvani was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and is subject to a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Detective Constable Kristina Page-Brown, who led the investigation, stated: "Despite claiming in interview that he had consensual sex with her, he pleaded guilty to two serious sexual offences at court — he knew what he had done.
His behaviour was predatory, taking advantage of her after she had been out for the night." She added, "This was a traumatic incident for his victim, and I am pleased she did not have to relive the ordeal in front of a jury.
I hope the recent outcome offers her some closure and helps her move forward with her life."
