According to court proceedings, Mogridge was convicted on multiple charges, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of threatening to kill the young girl. The incident was interrupted when two passers-by noticed the commotion and intervened, calling the police and providing crucial assistance that led to Mogridge’s arrest. Their timely intervention was instrumental in preventing further harm and bringing the perpetrator to justice.

In her statement, the victim expressed her profound emotional suffering, stating, “I used to be a bubbly and confident girl and enthusiastic about life and living it. I had dreams for my future. I am now traumatised, scared, drained and frightened. One day in October, because of one person, my life turned upside down and my dreams disappeared.”

Mogridge was subsequently sentenced to serve 14 years in custody, with an additional four years on licence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the impact on the victim’s life.
