2016: OLDBURY SEX PEST JAILED FOR TWO YEARS FOR HARASSING SCHOOLGIRLS
An Oldbury man responsible for a two-month harassment campaign involving two schoolgirls with sexually explicit messages has been jailed.29-year-old Asif Iqbal, a father of one, also assaulted a 13-year-old girl at his workplace, a fast food restaurant, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
Judge Kristina Montgomery sentenced him to two years and two months in prison, warning: "Girls of this age are not to be regarded as sexualized adults, and those who do not wish to engage with you must accept that." She added, "While in custody, you will have time to think about your actions." According to prosecutor Samantha Powis, Iqbal, who is married, initially exhibited inappropriate interest in a girl who visited KFC in Quinton.
He began by staring at her and, upon her request to use the toilet, he directed her to the staff bathroom and waited outside.
He then asked for her phone number, which she refused, before physically grabbing her by wrapping his arms around her waist and touching her bottom, prompting her to push him away.
Miss Powis explained that Iqbal fixated on the girl for some time before isolating her in the toilet and assaulting her.
The girl did not report the incident immediately due to embarrassment but confided in a friend, leading to her mother contacting authorities.
Further investigation revealed Iqbal had targeted two 15-year-old girls, sending them sexually explicit messages and images via Facebook.
Despite their clear communication that they wanted no contact, he continued to pursue them through their mobile phones.
An analysis of his device showed he contacted the girls 70 times over two months and seemed to know their locations on multiple occasions.
Prosecutor Powis stated it was unclear how Iqbal obtained such information but emphasized the aggressive nature of his actions.
Iqbal, with no prior convictions, admitted to sexual assault and stalking offenses.
He was ordered to stay away from minors and must register as a sex offender for five years.
