ASHTON KERR AND TAMMIE TIMBRELL SHOCK SELBY WITH BRUTAL CHILD ABUSE CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Selby, a man named Ashton Kerr was sentenced to three years in prison for a series of heinous attacks on a three-year-old boy. The incidents, which took place in March 2009, involved a pattern of cruelty that left the young victim with severe injuries. Kerr, who was unemployed at the time, demonstrated a complete lack of remorse during the court proceedings, smirking in the dock at York Crown Court as he was sentenced.

According to court records, Kerr inflicted multiple forms of physical abuse on the child, including the brutal act of burning a cigarette out on the child's body. He also used a strap to beat the young boy and repeatedly punched him, causing significant harm. The severity of the injuries was such that a medical report confirmed they were caused by a combination of a strap, a blunt object, and Kerr’s fists. The report emphasized that considerable force would have been necessary to produce injuries of this nature, highlighting the brutality of the attacks.

During the sentencing, the Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, addressed Kerr directly, stating, “You have shown very little remorse for your actions, causing injuries of a very serious nature.” Kerr’s partner, Tammie Timbrell, aged 24 and residing on Kitchener Street in Selby, was also involved in the case. She was present in court and was visibly upset, sobbing as she was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to child neglect charges. Timbrell was also convicted of witnessing the abuse without intervening.

Prosecutor Rupert Dodswell, representing the Crown Prosecution Service, described Kerr’s actions as a series of “very cruel injuries caused to a vulnerable child,” emphasizing the severity and brutality of the abuse. The court heard that Kerr’s violent acts included multiple punches and other forms of physical assault, leaving the young victim with injuries that required medical attention.

This case has left the community of Selby deeply disturbed, raising questions about the safety and protection of children in the area. Kerr’s smirk in court contrasted sharply with the sobs of Timbrell, who expressed remorse for her role in the neglect.
