A resident of Stockton has been found guilty and received a four-year prison term following a violent episode involving a meat cleaver and an attack on a woman. Police reports indicate that Ashley Dalkin was observed on Harding Street in January 2024, wielding a meat cleaver. During the altercation, he held the weapon against a woman's throat, brandished it at a man, and later shattered a window of a vehicle. Prior to these events, he assaulted a woman by punching her repeatedly. Dalkin was detained and charged with controlling and coercive behavior, causing actual bodily harm through assault, threatening someone with a bladed weapon, and criminal damage. He admitted guilt to all charges during his hearing at Teesside Crown Court in July and was sentenced on October 31st. PC Hood from Cleveland Police described the episode as particularly terrifying, citing the use of a highly dangerous weapon, and reiterated that combating violence against women and girls remains a key focus. The police also commended the victim's courage, calling her support truly inspiring.
