NORWICH PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR HIDEOUS TODDLER SEXUAL ASSAULT
A paedophile with a nappy fetish has been sentenced to prison for a horrific sexual assault on a toddler.Ashley Carter, a man with a history of offences related to his sexual obsession with nappies, committed the assault at a hotel in Norwich.
During the trial, Norwich Crown Court heard that Carter, aged 35, filmed the incident in a bathroom at the Travelodge on Queen's Road.
The footage revealed Carter, who was naked, pushing a soiled nappy into the child's face, causing the young victim to become distressed.
The prosecution emphasized that the assault was sexual in nature because of Carter's known nappy fetish.
The court was also informed that Carter has seven convictions for ten previous offences, including two indecent exposures and two outraging public decency, with one involving him playing with himself while holding a nappy.
At the time of the incident in November 2023, the child was left with Carter at the hotel by the child's mother.
Further police investigations uncovered that Carter had 29 indecent images of children on his phone, including two of the most serious Category A images.
Carter pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 60 months in prison.
As part of his sentence, he was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 15 years, was registered as a sex offender for 15 years, and banned from contacting the victim or the mother for 10 years.
The victim's mother described her feelings as 'numb' following the incident, while Carter's legal representative acknowledged that there was nothing to mitigate the severity of the crime, noting Carter's guilty plea at the earliest opportunity.
A police officer described Carter as a 'repeat sexual offender and predator.' The case highlights the seriousness of his offences and the restrictions imposed on him post-sentencing.
